Why Do Women Cheat?: One Woman's Story

“The theory that adultery is "natural" for men, fulfilling their Darwinian need to spread their seed, has been around a long time” –Women Health, Web MD.

Why men cheat is no longer news I think most people have come to the conclusion that men cheat as a sport, and society is trying to in one way or another shove it down our throats that if it’s a man then it’s not quite as awful, and that’s why they come up with useless sayings that almost seem like a pat on the back “he is a man now”, “men will always be men”, “come on darling, that shouldn't surprise you that’s what men do they cheat!”

On my blog rounds yesterday I visited www.thenakedconvos.com and the topic of discussion was "The General & The Mistress: why do women cheat?” I settled in to enjoy myself, but before doing that I told a couple of my friends who are also lovers of TNC that we were in for a treat because TNC is known for its no holds barred approach, moreover, it should be intriguing to get an insight on why women cheat.

If you know anything about blogs the "comment" session is almost as informed as the post itself; there you get diverse views and sometimes a fictitious post develops a real human face, for this particular post, the comments ranged from the lack of attention and care to revenge, to fun etc. I was still going through the comments when I got a ping from one of the friends’ I had directed to the day's post, she told she had dropped her confession in the comment section, she gave the name she used for the comment, and I was amazed at her story.

“If I say he cheated on me with a neighbor will dat suffice? ud probably say no cos I cried n forgave him and accepted it like it was part of my six years 2 months old marriage. did they know each other b4? Cos we moved in here 3 months b4 d marriage.yet their union was stronger Dan China's economy! so I'll let dat pass to d fact dat he came back late and beat me if I ever complained. d fact dat I was pregnant didn't matter afterall "I wasn't carrying Jesus! den he was Transferred 2 a state 3hrs away! He gladly left me n my 1 year old daughter.N visited once a month which later became once in 3 months.we made luv @ most 4 times a year.did I mention I married @ 19?so at 21 I was almost getting Non! I made efforts n I wondered cos I was endowed n good in bed!living like dis 4 over six years? naa, By the 3rd year I cracked n started getting some .afterall ppl wanted me everywhere I went!after 2 attempts I settled for an angel! the best n most handsome caring man in d whole world. I now know wat love is .dis year I moved in with my hubby who was now envious of d fact dat I don't have his time anymore.I did dat 4 my daughter buh it still isn't working BW us d fighting n quarreling.so I have made up my mind 2 get a divorce.hez 20yrs older Dan me n he can sort himself out cos he prefers his age grade!there u have it!”

After reading this, I immediately sent her a ping, all I could say was “ babe you are a strong woman”, that was the first thing my mind could come up with, the next thing I asked was if I could share her story and she said, “yes if you need more details I will tell you” then she went ahead to tell me of a time when he brought his girlfriend to the house, and after an incident asked her to apologize to the girlfriend and after she had apologized his girlfriend’s friend responded “you are lucky I am in a good mood I would have beat you up”. I usually do not curse, but my only response was “What the F***”.

I realize that most women are “saints” that would never dream, think or talk of cheating their partners. But there are a few that do cheat and may have a compelling reason for doing so, please let us share these experiences.

If you have any advice that will help my friend, do not hesitate to use the comment box.

...men cheat, granted.bt there is alwyz an indication that a man is cheating. any woman who fails to see the signs, especially before walking into a marriage, has short-sold herself.
Divorce remains an outlet. but who would always bear the deepest scars?

I think that men just like to show their prowess. Someone once said that men are polygamous in nature and even seeming godly men are not left out of the number. I think the whole subject is about values and personal principles. And if women have decided to join the number, ensure you don't hurt yourself while trying to do something to get back at your spouse!

My dear, this is not to criticize d person but women should not cheat only because the bible say so(that we should not commit adultery). I don't support it and if d husband cheats doent mean she should too..when times get too hard women need to seek d face of God for direction and not succumb to pressure or d devil. I may not understand what d person is goin thru but, I know a woman wid similar issue and today she is so happy and will soon be gettin married to d another person.....but she never cheated on her husband....d woman controls d life span of marriage and if she allows d devil in its destroyed forever except God intervenes.if d lady still needs advice let her contact me and I will give her d woman's contact and she will b willing to help. IT is WELL

Nice one Awo. However Men cheating was accepted way back when they were the sole financial head in the family and as such where neva questioned abt their actions. Its not so today as women are now financially independent plus support the family financially as such these adulterous actions shld neither be accepted nor encouraged it shld be frowned with everything possible

so, did d bible say men can cheat? we shld stop dis religion thing in this country, how abt the beating part? this woman u r talking abt is d husband 20 yrs older? a man dat is 20yrs older shuld treat his wife wit care n respect, he shld pamper her. her happiness is important, she wears the shoes, she know whr it hurts.

My dear my comment was never written to spite u..and d Bible doesn't allow men to cheat neither.I can't judge u cos I'm not God. D woman in question married someone older, d husband den almost beat her to death and worse of all she still wantd to stay in d marriage cos she didn't want to divorce... She became a ghost and d worst part her daughters cud see dia mom was suffering but she never. Came out to tell dem. So imagine wat sort of crazy pain she probably had to go thru.. Bottom line she she was separated from d husbandn went abroad , and G concentrated on d healin process and raisin her daughter for her not to become who she was,, today God brought a man who loves her crazy she. Will b gettin married soon to dis new guy so also her daughter..... Bottom line is we don't let such kinda situations change us just bcos dey present dem selves... D best u can do for urself is gettin separated and gud a tin u r far from him.. So u can analyse situation well. And may I point dis out no man can help u unless u truely seek help from d one who fixes all tins...d Holy spirit...dat woman's best companion was d Holy sPirit den....I sincerely hope u can meet her she's quite advanced and will b patient to listen....also remember if u can't solve d problem dat started an old fight and den continue in anoda dsame fight cud resurface... I'm not judgin u I post dis wid all sincerity of heart. SHALOM

I read this story two days back and tried to make comments but my link would not. Firstly, I will like to state there is no amount of justifications that can make two wrongs turn right. I will be making my contributions from personal experience. I was once cheating on my wife and believe you me that period was a time in my life I wished never was. I never slept outside of my house but left our room and these went on for almost two years. It all started from my taking to alcohol....... To cut a long story short, last year September God looked unto me with mercy and restored me back to my senses (Cos I believe any man cheating on his wife is out of his senses) and brought me back. I sincerely regret my actions and have since then been using every opportunity to make it up to my wife (I just changed her car five months ago, sent her for an expensive certificate course that she has long wanted to do, put a substantial amount of money in her account and above all, always stay at home and quit alcohol). The bottom line is patience and prayer. I can imagine how much prayer my wifemust have said to God. Some married men walk into trap, some work themselves to it, but whichever one it is prayer is the answer. Yes, some men see affairs outside of their home as games but beleieve you me, its because they lack God in their knowledge (Rom 1: 28). My advice to this woman is to go to God in prayer, God still answers prayer, if for nothing for her daughter. The age difference should not be an issue of discuss cos she was aware of his age and still went into the marriage. More so, does she know what drama the new man may bring up two years down the line or has she made up her mind to start changing men. In conclusion, she wears the shoes and only she can say how it pinches but in everything she does, she should not forget the place of God. Jesus is Lord.
